The 1st Mate Marine Safety and Security System puts confidence in the palm of your hand with overboard alerts, distress messaging and theft-deterrent functionality. Utilizing wireless communication between wearable fobs, an engine hub and your mobile device, the 1st Mate system combines boat safety with convenience while providing a safe alternative to the traditional mechanical emergency stop switch and lanyard.

What is 1st Mate?

1st Mate is an intelligent hub, wearable device and mobile app that provides safety alerts and boat security. 1st Mate utilizes wearable fobs for the boat captain and up to seven passengers. These wearables connect to a mobile device and ensure that if the captain falls overboard, the engine(s) will stop, an alarm will sound and alerts will be sent via the 1st Mate mobile app, thanks to direct integration with the vessel’s propulsion system. For the captain, 1st Mate replaces the traditional mechanical emergency stop switch and lanyard with a convenient wireless fob that can be worn at all times. 

Similarly, if a passenger falls overboard, the captain will be alerted and given the passenger’s GPS location via the app.

Overboard Monitoring

Engine Cutoff Functionality

For the captain, 1st Mate is a safe, convenient alternative to the traditional mechanical emergency stop switch and lanyard that can be worn anywhere in the boat.

Distress Messaging

If the captain falls overboard, the engine(s) will stop, an alarm will sound and alerts with instructions for returning to the location of the incident will be sent to connected passengers via mobile app. If a passenger falls overboard, the captain will be alerted and given the location via the app.

Theft Deterrent System (TDS)

TDS can lock your engine(s) to prevent unauthorized use. Once you’re ready to get behind the wheel, your engine(s) can easily be unlocked via the proximity of the captain’s fob or by using the 1st Mate app.

Compatibility

The 1st Mate system can connect the captain and up to seven passengers. There are versions for Mercury SmartCraft®-compatible engines and for all leading engine brands.
