The 1st Mate system is the industry's first engine-integrated intelligent hub and wearable device that integrates with marine propulsion systems to provide safety alerts and information. The main features of 1st Mate include: (1) Man overboard monitoring for captain and up to 7 passengers; (2) distress message capability; and (3) theft deterrent functionality. These wearable accessories are made for both 1st Mate's Mercury SmartCraft Engines & All Leading Engine Brands Passenger fobs, and include an adjustable wristband and carabiner clip. The captain fob is sold separately. The new standard in marine safety and security, 1st Mate adds another layer of boating safety by notifying a boat's captain or its passengers if someone has fallen overboard. 1st Mate also serves as an effective deterrent to boat-and-engine theft.

Confidence at Hand

Overboard Monitoring

If the captain falls overboard, the engine(s) will stop, an alarm will sound and alerts with instructions for returning to the location of the incident will be sent to connected passengers via mobile app. If a passenger falls overboard, the captain will be alerted and given the location via the app.

Engine Cutoff Functionality

For the captain, 1st Mate is a safe, convenient alternative to the traditional mechanical emergency stop switch and lanyard that can be worn anywhere in the boat.

Distress Messaging

In the event the captain goes overboard, 1st Mate can send a distress message with location, heading and time to emergency contact(s) once a pre-set countdown timer expires or a request for help is made.

Theft Deterrent System (TDS)

TDS can lock your engine(s) to prevent unauthorized use. Once you’re ready to get behind the wheel, your engine(s) can easily be unlocked via the proximity of the captain’s fob or by using the 1st Mate app.

Compatibility

The 1st Mate system can connect the captain and up to seven passengers. There are versions for Mercury SmartCraft®-compatible engines and for all leading engine brands.
