A Life with Dogs is a Rich Life

Is there a truer or more irreplaceable companion than the dog? Is there anyone or anything who can provide the kind of unwavering love and support that a trusty canine brings to a home? To a dog lover, there is nothing quite like a lovable family dog. But is anything more fun and rewarding than spending the day in the backyard with a dog? Why, yes – spending the day on your boat with a dog!

There’s Nothing Quite Like a Boat Dog

The boat dog is a unique and wonderful creature. As any dog parent will tell you, some dogs love being in the water, while others would rather be just about anywhere else. Likewise, there are some dogs who love riding in vehicles, while others hide at the mere sound of keys jingling. Bonafide boat dogs love not only their family, but also the water and the boat – meaning you and your friend can spend all sorts of time together, both on land and on the water.

Boat Dogs Are (Mostly) Made, Not Born

Regardless of a dog’s enthusiasm for your boat and the water, a boat-dog-to-be must be taught the ropes. It is important to get your dog used to the boat from a young age – learning to balance, where it’s safe to walk, how to get back to the boat if they fall in and many more little lessons. Like teaching a dog to do anything else, it can take some time but the results are worth the effort!

Have a Dog? Get a Boat! Have a Boat? Get a Dog!

For those who grew up with a boat and a dog, to live a life without one or the other may seem impossible. The rewards of living the boat dog lifestyle are truly immeasurable! If you have a boat, consider bringing a dog into your family – and your boat. If you have a dog, consider whether he or she might like to spend some time fishing, cruising or just relaxing with a picnic lunch out on the water!

“A dog may be man’s best friend, but a boat will never steal your sandwich.”
