Few things are as exciting as the promise of a new boating season. It’s an open slate for creating a host of lasting memories, from first catches and family outings to weekend getaways and the discovery of hidden waterways.
Any boat owner accustomed to preparing their boat for its first launch of the season knows the importance of performing a few pre-season procedures to ensure that things get off to a good start. Things like inspecting your prop shaft for fishing line or checking your batteries for corrosion before taking that first trip down to the boat ramp are just a couple examples.
Another easy way to ensure you have a long, uninterrupted season on the water is by purchasing a Mercury Product Protection plan (MPP). By providing up to eight years of factory-backed coverage on your engine, MPP provides an added sense of assurance, allowing you to approach your on-water adventures with confidence.
What is MPP?
Simple. It’s a factory-backed extended service contract for your recreationally used Mercury engine that covers certain expenses caused by defects in materials and workmanship, after the Mercury Limited Warranty expires.
How Does MPP Work?
Purchased before your engine’s Mercury Limited Warranty expires, MPP is perhaps the simplest way to protect yourself from unexpected repair costs. MPP coverage takes effect the day the Limited Warranty expires, and when you purchase MPP within the first 12 months of purchasing your engine, you can save even more money, versus purchasing at a later date.
MPP Comes in Two Levels of Coverage: Gold and Platinum
· Gold coverage covers mechanical issues.
· Platinum coverage covers mechanical and electrical issues.
· Both Gold and Platinum levels are available on most Mercury, MerCruiser® and Mercury Racing engines.
MPP Benefits:
· Factory-Backed Service Plan
o Mercury Product Protection is a factory-backed extended service plan that takes effect the day the Limited Warranty expires. It can cover parts and labor for electrical and mechanical failures that are the result of defects in material or workmanship.
· Increased Resale Value
o Mercury Product Protection is transferable to subsequent owners, which typically helps to increase the resale value of the engine.
· Extra Coverage
o Mercury Product Protection provides up to eight years of total coverage for a Mercury engine. (Mercury Limited Warranty + Mercury Product Protection)
· Peace of Mind
o After the engine’s Limited Warranty expires, Mercury Product Protection provides owners with an easy, less-expensive solution for unexpected repairs.
· Genuine Parts
o Mercury Authorized Dealers will make repairs using only genuine Mercury Precision Parts and Quicksilver® Parts & Accessories specifically designed for the engine being serviced.
· Non-Declining Coverage
o The value of Mercury Product Protection’s coverage does not decrease over the life of the contract.
Like routine maintenance, a Mercury Product Protection plan is designed to give you peace of mind and make boating easier.
