Co-Op Education Program


Mercury Marine®’s Co-op Education Program is a carefully structured program where all parties - Mercury, the student, and the university - enter into a mutual agreement designed to enrich a student’s formal education by alternating periods of study with meaningful periods of work. The student, viewed as a "professional-in-training," provides entry-level employment services to the company.

Mercury Marine’s Objectives

  • Create, develop, and evaluate a pool of talent from which to fill entry-level professional positions
  • Fulfill resource needs for value-added, project-related assignments
  • Enhance on-campus recruiting
  • Build relationships with universities that impact curriculum development, which fulfills Mercury’s knowledge needs

Student’s Objectives

  • Obtain relevant on-the-job experience relating to their academic training
  • Learn about different opportunities available in their chosen career field, as well as other professional fields
  • Enhance their understanding of academic learning with the practical application of college curriculum
  • Support and/or finance their education

Terms of Employment

  • Spring/Summer Co-op term: January through August
  • Summer/Fall Co-op term: June through December

Program Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an approved four-year related curriculum and a formalized co-op program at an accredited university
  • Have completed at least 45 hours of undergraduate credits toward their degree
  • Must be available through the entire co-op term or terms approved by the Company and the university

It is Mercury’s intention to seriously consider students who have completed the Co-op Education Program for full-time employment. Full-time employment offers will be based on Mercury’s needs and a competitive review of each student’s performance throughout the program.
