Thermowelding

Compared to conventional hand-gluing, Thermowelding (used on all Mercury PVC products) provides a number of distinct advantages, including:
  • Stronger adhesion of fabric
  • Clear appearance of boat
  • Minimized wicking through the fabric yarn
The Thermowelding process:
  • Multiple layers of PVC fabric are bonded by hot air at a specific melting point.
  • Both edges of tube fabric are fed into the roller. Finishing tape is introduced over the seam in preparation for welding.
  • Closing the tube seam is done by welding the seam tape over the center of both sides of the fabric.
  • The seam is stronger than the fabric itself.
