Cedar Creek Remediation

Plant Remediation

In 2013, Mercury Marine completed remediation activities on the property of its decommissioned manufacturing plant in Cedarburg. With assistance from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), PCB-impacted materials, such as soil and concrete foundation, were removed and transported to appropriate licensed disposal facilities.

After the contaminated materials were removed, Mercury Marine replaced the excavated area with backfill and a low-permeability soil cover. Once backfilled, the property was capped with a layer of topsoil and seeded.

Currently, there are no specific plans to redevelop the Cedarburg Plant property. However, Mercury Marine will discuss options with local community officials regarding future use of the site.
